Chemoembolization

In a chemoembolization procedure for cancer treatment, an interventional radiologist uses a tiny probe, inserted through a small incision, to deliver chemotherapy drugs precisely to tumors. These minimally invasive procedures make higher and more effective chemotherapy doses possible while leaving more of the surrounding healthy tissue unaffected. Cancers that can be treated with chemoembolization include tumors of the colon, breast, neuroendocrine glands, pancreas, eyes and veins.
