Research Projects:

 

HEMOBAHN STUDY:

Purpose: A randomized multicenter study comparing use of the HEMOBAHN endovascular prosthesis to percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) in the treatment of superficial femoral artery obstructive disease.

 

A STUDY EVALUATING TISSUE PLASMINOGEN ACTIVATOR FOR PERIPHERAL VASCULAR THROMBOLYSIS:

Purpose: To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of tissue plasminogen activator as a peripheral vascular thrombolytic agent.

 

G.E. MEDICAL SYSTEMS - ANGIOGRAPHY LABORATORY - NATIONAL SHOW SITE AND TEST SITE:

Purpose:  To evaluate 3-D angiography for peripheral vascular diagnosis and intervention.

 

A STUDY OF THE EFFICACY OF TREATING RENAL ARTERY STENOSIS UTILIZING PALMAZ STENTS:

Purpose: To determine the efficacy of using Palmaz stents to treat renal artery stenosis that is refractory to conventional percutaneous translumunal renal angioplasty.

 

A STUDY OF CARBON DIOXIDE AND GADOLINIUM AS INTRAVASCULAR IMAGING AGENTS:

Purpose: To demonstrate the efficacy of utilizing carbon dioxide as an alternative imaging agent for those patients with renal insufficiency or contrast allergy.

 

PLACEMENT OF INTRAVASCULAR STENTS IN HEMODIALYSIS PATIENTS:

Purpose: To evaluate the ability of the expandable metallic stent to maintain the patency of a stenotic vein attached to a dialysis fistula.

 

STILE STUDY:

Purpose: A comparison of surgery and thrombolysis in lower extremity ischemia.  A national multicenter FDA approved “landmark” trail comparing the effects of rt-PA and urokinase with surgery for the treatment of lower extremity ischemia.
