Research
Projects:
HEMOBAHN STUDY:
Purpose: A randomized multicenter study comparing
use of the HEMOBAHN endovascular prosthesis to percutaneous transluminal
angioplasty (PTA) in the treatment of superficial femoral artery obstructive
disease.
A STUDY EVALUATING TISSUE PLASMINOGEN ACTIVATOR FOR
PERIPHERAL VASCULAR THROMBOLYSIS:
Purpose: To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of
tissue plasminogen activator as a peripheral vascular thrombolytic agent.
G.E. MEDICAL SYSTEMS - ANGIOGRAPHY LABORATORY -
NATIONAL SHOW SITE AND TEST SITE:
Purpose: To
evaluate 3-D angiography for peripheral vascular diagnosis and intervention.
A STUDY OF THE EFFICACY OF TREATING RENAL ARTERY
STENOSIS UTILIZING PALMAZ STENTS:
Purpose: To determine the efficacy of using Palmaz stents to treat renal
artery stenosis that is refractory to conventional percutaneous translumunal renal
angioplasty.
A STUDY OF CARBON DIOXIDE AND GADOLINIUM AS
INTRAVASCULAR IMAGING AGENTS:
Purpose: To demonstrate the efficacy of utilizing
carbon dioxide as an alternative imaging agent for those patients with renal
insufficiency or contrast allergy.
PLACEMENT OF INTRAVASCULAR STENTS IN HEMODIALYSIS
PATIENTS:
Purpose: To evaluate the ability of the expandable
metallic stent to maintain the patency of a stenotic vein attached to a
dialysis fistula.
STILE STUDY:
Purpose: A comparison of surgery and thrombolysis in
lower extremity ischemia. A national
multicenter FDA approved “landmark” trail comparing the effects of rt-PA and
urokinase with surgery for the treatment of lower extremity ischemia.
